WELCOME

Dear Friends,

Please join us for a very special evening highlighting “Simple Pleasures of the Garden” featuring renowned American interior and garden designer, author and flaneuse Charlotte Moss, who will help us celebrate the 50th anniversary of AHS at River Farm. Ms. Moss, a native Virginian, is known for her classically elegant interiors and gardens, inspired by nature, history and travel – and cultivated by a refined aesthetic that features a passionate quest for beauty.

Our celebration will launch with a cocktail party at sunset, where we will revel in the splendor of the early autumn landscape at River Farm, awash in golden, amber and claret hues. Strolling through the gardens, cocktail in hand, we’ll see first-hand what motivated George Washington to acquire River Farm as part of his original portfolio, and inspired our benefactor Enid Annenberg Haupt to donate the purchase price of River Farm to AHS in 1973, ensuring this beautiful headquarters in perpetuity.

As we step onto the terrace overlooking the Potomac River, the lovely tablescapes and opulent fresh flowers will create a beautiful backdrop for an elegant dinner highlighting the best of mid-Atlantic seasonal cuisine, complemented by fine wines and signature cocktails.

The evening will conclude with dessert and dancing under the stars, welcoming in the autumn equinox in grand style. We’ll toast our 50-year history at River Farm and look ahead with excitement to the next 50 years.

We hope you will join us for this spectacular evening!

All the best,
